I have had a lot of luck with a shampoo called Tarsum Gel. I use it every day and may scalp has been completely clear. An older fellow I know has P on his scalp worse than I do and when he diligently uses the Tarsum, it helps him a great deal. I believe it is manufactured by Summers Labs. I can’t find it on the shelves in the store but my pharmacist gets it for me (No prescription). The initial usage requires working it in to the affected area and letting it sit for a few minutes. Good Luck

one that did the same for me is called Pentrax. I get it off the shelf at CVS Pharmacy. Haven’t had a scalp problem in years and it use to be really really bad.

TGEL works for me as well (sometimes!). One hint I will give you is…try to get some Coconut oil from somewhere and rub that into your hair. Leave it for as long as you can stand it. Sometimes I have it in overnight and wear a shower cap to bed and place an old towel on the pillow. THen shampoo out with TGEL…It works wonders..Especially good if you want a one off really good none Scalp day! Good Luck, Mike – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->Thanks for the hints guys. … or, if your scalp is particularly scaly, try Arachis oil (left on overnight), as long as you don’t have nut allergies. It worked a treat for me (but it is messy!). I have been using the same shampoo for 17 years, and I love it. It’s called Denorex, from Whitehall Labs., and it is MUCH cheaper in the US than UK. Stay clear. Steve.

Hi I use Spectrotar Shampoo every morning. I leave it on for at least 10 minutes before rinsing and then I shampoo with regular shampoo. Hope this helps. I suffer from Seb Derm of the scalp. My Dr. prescribed Nizoral it works ok. There is a product called Del Lorenzo in Australia which can be bought over the counter in hair salons. It has given me great results and there is also sprays that can be applied to stubborn plaques. The name you may find in the U.S. is Enzo Maya To find out where you can get the product. I also find that if im wearing a hat or have been exercising my scalp sweats which can be itchy. Try washing you hair before you go to bed as the prblem seems when I wake up. I find this has also great results.. Happy Living Geoff

All these suggestions for scalp psoriasis are great. You all seem to know more than the dermatologist, who did nothing but give me a diagnosis, presecription, and pamphlet! So, I guess I’ll bring my questions here. here goes: 1. How long does it usually take for these things (steroids, shampoos, etc.) to take effect? The steroids seemed to help at first, but then I got another flareup! I don’t want to use steroids for a long time, I know they can have permanent side effects. 2. How long between flareups? Was it worse at first? That is, was there a shorter time between flareups? I was diagnosed two weeks ago, and now seem to be back right where I started! 3. Lots of pain? Lots of itching? Right now, I have incredible tightness in my scalp and it’s pretty painful when I turn my head and such. Not as much itching as when I was first diagnosed, but it’s there. Will moisturizers help? Or aloe vera? Well, that’s enough questions for now. If you’ve gotten this far, thanks for reading! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->I suffer from Seb Derm of the scalp. >My Dr. prescribed Nizoral it works ok. >There is a product called Del Lorenzo in Australia which can be bought over >the counter in hair salons. >It has given me great results and there is also sprays that can be applied >to stubborn plaques. >The name you may find in the U.S. is Enzo Maya >To find out where you can get the product. >I also find that if im wearing a hat or have been exercising >my scalp sweats which can be itchy. >Try washing you hair before you go to bed as the prblem seems when I wake >up. >I find this has also great results.. >Happy Living >Geoff

Hi Julie: OTC Netrogena T-Gel works the best for me. Put in on and leave it on for about 1/2 hour then rinse. It’s messy but it works for me. Brian

Nizoral did nada for me. Clobetasol and other steroids helped me very briefly then made things worse. Have you tried over the counter stuff like Neutrogena T-Gel or even my current favorite, good old Head and Shoulders? Neither is likely to clear you, but either or both can help. J.
