Any given Nizoral a try?
Question:
Hi Dave, I tried Nizoral also a few years ago before it was OTC. I recently used F/S shampoo and found that it helps…its also decent as far as a shampoo goes. (I found that with the nizoral my hair was one big frizz ball =)) The f/s shampoo though is prescription only, but if you need a really great derm let me know..i live in nyc also
Response:
Hi, Dave. My doctor prescribed Nizoral shampoo to me last year, before it was available over the counter. Honestly, it did not work in the least bit for me. Maybe my scalp psoriasis is too severe, but, it didn’t seem to penetrate the skin very well. I have better results with stronger shampoos. I have used tons of prescription and over the counter ones, but I like Paul Mitchell’s Tea Tree shampoo best. It helps to soothe the scalp. Then, I apply my topical medicines while the skin is wet and able to soak in the stuff better. That’s just me though. It is worth a try, though, because it seems that products work wonders for some and not at all for others. good luck! Cari (Kentucky)
Response:
Nizoral is, from what I understand, an anti-fungal preparation used to treat dandruff as well as seborrhea. Has anyone used the prescription or the over-da-counter version and attained any success in treating scalpline psoriasis. I, from what my doctor has said, have a hybrid – sebopsoriasis – sounds like a death metal band – and this is something available. Care to share any experiences or knowledge? Dave in NYC
Response:
I did and it made my scalp itch so terribly that I had to discontinue it. I was clawing at my head something awful. But I hear that others have seen results from it. Holly
Response:
It didn’t do anything for me…maybe even made the scalp P worse. Didn’t seem to have the right kind of meds for my P – might try it though, it may work for you. Shannon
Response:
Hi Dave Yes I have used it with limited affect and that was the 2% version prescribed. Im using a shampoo called Del Lorenzo which can be bought over the counter in hair salons. In the U.S. you will find it under Enzo Maya They have dedicated a line of shampoos for problem scalps. Good Luck Geoff
