Try a cream called "George’s Cream".  It really works for me. Linda

Actually it’s a vitamin D analogue, not a high concentration of vitamin E or a steroid. Was developed out of a Japanese study on osteoporosis (sp?) using Vitamin D to try to raise calcium levels. Improvements in study participants’ P was noticed and the analogue was developed because natural vitamin D in quantities to help P could cause other problems. Which relates to the one serious caution on dovonex -even with the analogue, there is a maximum weekly dosage of 100 grams that shouldn’t be exceeded or you risk side effects from excess levels of calcium in the system. Something like 10-20% of those using it also experience irritation. Here’s a link to some info at the NPF site on its use: http://www.psoriasis.org/atnpf/q5.html -Kim

Rob, I personally did not notice any side effects from using Dovonex.  I’m not sure if I’m correct, but I don’t think that it’s a steroid cream. What it is a cream with a high concentration of vitamin E,  Again, I could be wrong but that’s the impression I’m under.  It does help, but is very tedious.  I have to apply it twice a day for four days a week. Also, it is greasy because it is an ointment.  As for Pagano’s diet, I believe that he has a website that explains it, but again I’m not sure, it’s been a while since I looked it up.  I have his book and his chart on the recommended diet.  If you would like I can e-mail you directly to give you an idea of what it consists of.  You also can just e-mail me Beatrice – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Beatrice, >      Recently, I asked my doctor if there was anything "new" in psoriasis > treatments. Hi.  I am 19 years old and I suffer from psoriasis.  Right now it is much better than it used to be, but I still have it on my left leg from my knee down.  I use dovonex for four days a week and ultravate for three days a week.  It isn’t really working that well for me.  I was wondering if anybody had any ideas on alternative methods for treatment, including diet.  I have seen Dr. Pagano, but never really stuck with his diet cause I didn’t believe that it would work.  If anybody has any feedback on his treatments I would love to hear what you have to say. Whatever anybody has to offer would be great.  Thanks a lot. Beatrice Before you buy.

Beatrice,      Recently, I asked my doctor if there was anything "new" in psoriasis treatments. He said I could try Dovonex(after 15 years of Diprosalic). Did you(or anyone having used Dovonex) notice any side effects? Also, could you lead me towards some information on Dr. Pagano’s diet? I’d be interested in seeing what it looks like. Sorry I can’t really help you with your problems that much.
